Mufti of the Republic Shawqi Allam strongly condemned Barcelona terrorist attack that left 13 dead and more than a hundred injured after a suspect drove a van into crowds along a busy tourist street.

The Mufti said in a statement that terrorism is a danger that poses a threat to the whole world.

On that score, Allam called on the international community to pool efforts in order to eliminate extremism and terrorism.

The Muslim figure also extended condolences to the victims' families as well as to the Spanish people and government.
