Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam on Monday vehemently condemned the Houthi attack on a mosque in Ma'rib governorate, eastern Yemen, which left dozens injured and dead Friday.
Islam categorically rejects targeting civilians, innocent people as well as worship places, Allam said in a statement.
Taking the sectarian fights to mosques and worship places is a heinous crime that is rejected by Islam and all faiths, the mufti added.
He called for bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
Meanwhile, the mufti expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
