Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam condemned France's bombardment of an Iraqi school in Mosul city early on Wednesday, an attack that left at least 28 students dead and others wounded.

Such military operations violate all humanitarian norms and international laws, he said.

Allam called on the French government to issue an official apology for what happened and take all necessary measures to prevent recurrence of such tragedies.

He offered condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
