Ramallah - Arab Today
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israeli calls not to evacuate Amona settlement.
“The days of uprooting Jewish communities in the Land of Israel are over,” Israeli Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel had said.
“We will work with all our might to prevent the evacuation of a community, one that is on its land for 20 years," he added.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said the Israeli remarks came several months after the High Court of Justice in Israel ordered the settlement to be cleared and set the deadline at the end of the year because the settlement was built on private Palestinian property.
It added that Israel's ongoing settlement activities are threatening the two-state solution and undermining chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
The ministry called on the international community and the UN organizations to pressure the Israeli government to halt its settlement activities in Palestinian territories and abide by the international law and Geneva conventions.
