Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese received Sunday a phone call from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Orthodox church said.

The president condoled with the pope over the victims of Boutrosiya Church blast that took place earlier Sunday and left scores dead and injured.

At least 25 people were killed and 49 more injured in the blast that targeted the Boutrosiya Church which is adjacent to the St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo's Abbasiya.
