Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science yesterday announced the winners of the 7th version of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature 2018, which were allocated this year for Omanis only in non-tangible cultural heritage studies fields in culture and short film branch in arts, and traditional poetry branch in literature branch.

Habib bin Mohammed al- Riyami Secretary General of Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science today held a press conference where he announced names of the winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature; annual award presented alternatively every two years; one year for all Arabs and the other year for Omanis only to be an indicator for culture, art and literature condition on the local and Arab levels.

He added that the award this year included three fields allocated for Omanis only namely the non-tangible cultural Art studies and the short stories, as well as the traditional poetry.

He pointed out that in the field of non-tangible cultural heritage (culture branch), the award went to the study titled ' Tongues of the Omani Najmis at the Governorate of A'Dhahirah' by the researcher Hamad bin Abdullah aL- Skaiti. 

In the field of short stories ' arts branch', the award went to the field titled ' Black Doesn't Suit you' by the director Eisa bin Salim al- Sobhi.  In the field of traditional poetry for literature branch ' Art', the award was withheld this year as none of the works presented met the requirements.

He added that the number of works that meet the requirements for nomination at this version of the award stood at 22 in the field of non-tangible cultural heritage and 32 in the field of short films and 20 in the field of traditional poetry.
