Egypt has a long history of co-existence between Muslims and Christians, which has extended for more than 1,400 years, Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church and St Mark Diocese said on Tuesday.
The pope made the remarks during his meeting with French Foreign Ministry’s Religious Adviser.
"The majority of the Egyptian Muslims is moderate and we have good relations with them," he said.
The Pope added that Al Azhar and the church orgainzed nine conferences for the Muslim and Christian clerics and ulema together.
