Riyadh - Arab Today
Kuwait's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has said that the "Journey of Hope" that covers 19 countries is a source of pride on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab levels, emphasizing care for mentally disabled people.
The State of Kuwait offers the Journey, with its elevated humanitarian symbolism, to Kuwaitis suffering mental disabilities, in a bid to help merge them in the society, Sheikh Thamer told a party held in the embassy for the Journey of Hope members Sunday night.
He added that the Journey aims at conveying a message that the mentally disabled are able to withstand difficulties, traveling long distances by sea "hoping to realize achievements for all to boast." The Kuwaiti Ambassador boasted the success achieved by the Journey that started seven months before, aiming to convey the civilized and humanitarian image of Kuwait under His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who has rendered the mission his personal support.
Mission Executive Director Youssef Al-Jassem addressed the gathering, thanking the Kingdom authorities for facilitating all procedures for the Journey of Hope in all the Saudi ports they stopped at.
He added that the Journey would then proceed to Europe, then to the US where it would deliver its humanitarian "message of hope" to the Special Olympics through the American media. It will stress that the disabled are in need of more education, health and social care to merge in the society.
