Adidas demanded the Egyptian football union to reconsider their sponsorship of the national teams. The German sportswear company has so far been boycotted by the National Sports Council in Egypt for they sponsored a marathon in Israel. Former Head of National Sport Council Emad el-Banany said the council ended the contract with Adidas in a meeting with sports ministers in Saudi Arabia. Currently, the sponsorship contract with Puma is nearing the end and the council announced an opening to all companies. Adidas expressed their interest to design the Egyptian teams’ uniform, but their request is still under review.
