Dubai - Arab Today
Following the conclusion of the Dubai leg of the duFC season, the top players have been selected by Primera Liga scouts to take part in the national trial session.
Taking place on March 25, the national trial session will determine which players will then be chosen to join the Du LaLiga High Performance Center (HPC) in the UAE, where they will undergo an intensive training programme in line with the standards set by Spain’s Primera Liga. The players selected to join HPC can remain at the academy until the age of 18 when they can then join international clubs.
Divided into two age categories — Under-14 and Under-16 — the older players who are successful at the national trials will also travel to Spain in August for a three week training clinic and to take part in matches against Primera Liga clubs.
Real Madrid great Michel Salgado, who is the duFC Championship director, has said he is excited by the level of talent he has witnessed throughout the competition.
"The top rated young players we selected ... demonstrated impressive technical skills and should they make it through the final trial will certainly strengthen the existing team at HPC and provide us with a fantastic pool of talent to groom into pro-footballers," he said.
"We are very excited to have extended the scouting platform to the U14 category this year, as I believe this will provide a greater opportunity for them to be trained for a longer period of time to La Liga standards at the du La Liga HPC."
The Dubai leg of the season represented the final part of the process, with the players from the Abu Dhabi and Northern Emirates legs already chosen to take part in the national trials.
Once the national trials have concluded, the players will discover if they have been selected to join HPS in April.
