The Qatari handball team claimed the gold medal of the Second Asian Youth Games after beating their South Korean counterparts 28-21 in the final match on Friday. The Qatari team showed a widely-praised performance in the final match to win the gold medal and secure a place at the Youth Olympic Games to be held in China in 2014. Ahmad Al Sheabi, President of the Qatar Handball Association dedicated the gold medal to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the state and to the Qatari people. In the semifinals, Qatar defeated Saudi Arabia 31-25 while South Korea registered a 36-32 victory over Bahrain on Wednesday. The Qatari squad includes Mohammad Hani Abdulraouf, Abdulaziz Bouhendi, Ibrahim Shebl, Nour Ashraf Ahmad, Erhad Alhodzech, Bilal Leninka, Farouq Sholo, Mostafa Amir Heiba, Amin Bin Nouradin, Omer bin Jaloul, Salim Zuhair, Ahmad Magdi, Omer Khalid Abdulfatah, Abdulrahman Mohammad Abulshaar, Adai Hassan Esawi, Khalid Humaid Ahmad, Adison Bajaric and Jovo Damgnovic. On the other hand, Qatar finished the second Asian youth games in the 16th place with one gold medal and two silver medals. China occupied the first place ahead of South Korea in the second place while Japan settled in the third place.
