US Figure Skating has fined skater Rachael Flatt for failing to disclose a stress fracture that hindered her performance at the World Championships in April. Flatt, the 2010 US champion, announced after finishing 12th at the world championships in Moscow that she had been diagnosed a week before with a stress fracture in her right tibia. Theoretically, had Flatt informed US Figure Skating officials of the injury, they could have brought in alternate Mirai Nagasu to compete. Instead, Flatt\'s poor finish may have cost the United States a third women\'s berth at next year\'s world championships, with berths at future championships awarded based on a country\'s performance in each discipline. US Figure Skating officials declined to disclose the amount of Flatt\'s fine and said Wednesday they would have no further comment.
