Serena Williams on Saturday withdrew prior to her Rome Masters semi-final with a lower back injury, the WTA said in a tweet. Her withdrawal sees China's French Open winner Li Na into the Sunday final against either German Anbelique Kerber or defending champion Maria Sharapova.
