Egyptian parliamentarian Atif Abdel Jawad stressed the need for supporting Egypt’s political leadership during the current critical period to eliminate the terrorist threat, describing the current moment in Egypt’s history as exceptional. He called the executive, legislative and judicial authorities for rallying behind President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to overcome the current threats.
He praised, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, the recent decisions taken by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi after the bombings the churches of both Tanta and Alexandria, saying that such decisions are necessary to be implemented in the light of the current conditions. He rebuked the fears of some people over the implementation of the emergency law, saying that it should raise the concern of only the outlaws.
He raised the necessity of implementing the emergency law during the current critical period to protect the country’s national security and to deter the terrorist elements. He added that the current emergency law will be different from the state of emergency raised during the era of former President Hosni Mubarak.
He stressed that the terrorist attacks are not limited to Egypt, while extend to all over the world. He added that the terrorists managed to target a large number of countries around the world, stressing the need for excusing the Egyptian security forces who face serious challenge during the current period. He called the Egyptian people for supporting them not to condemn them.
In the same context, the Egyptian parliamentarian blamed the local officials for not performing their role, stressing that those officials should appear before the parliament for questioning. He added that those officials who refuse to appear before the parliament should be excluded from their positions.
He added that the he submitted a proposal to prevent those people who are over 60 years of age from working in the governmental institutions, saying that such a decision could perform a major role eliminate the current unemployment and to allow the new generations find suitable job opportunities.
