World champion diver He Chao of China failed to make the men's 3m springboard semis at the Rio Olympics here on Monday.

He, who made mistakes in his second and third dives, collected 380.35 points to finish only 21st among 29 divers in the preliminary round.

Another Chinese diver, Cao Yuan displayed consistency in big winds and ranked first with 498.70 points.

The semifinal and final will take place on Tuesday.
