The sixth annual Sam Nujoma half-marathon was won by Kenyan athlete Sammy Kipkoech Tum, Sunday in Namibia's capital Windhoek.
Nujoma is the Namibia's founding president.
The marathon is held as part of Nujoma's birthday celebrations which fall on May 12. He turned 87 this year.
Tum received 10,000 Namibian dollars (about 633 US dollars) for winning the 21-km race that took place in the morning.
When he received his award, Tum thanked his coach whom he said made him work very hard.
Tum was among many other athletes who were invited to participate in the half-marathon. Others came from Swaziland and South Africa.
Helalia Johannes, the Namibian athlete scooped the award in the women's category.
