Russian wrestler Davit Chakvetadze upset top-ranked Ukrainian Zhan Beleniuk in the men's Greco-Roman 85kg final at the Rio Olympic Games here on Monday when Cuba's Mijain Lopez clinched the 130kg title.
Reigning world champion Beleniuk edged to a two-point lead but Chakvetadze's counter attack proved to be more dangerous and effective as the latter grabbed 9 points in a run.
The 23-year-old Chakvetadze, 10th at last year's World Championships, nailed the 9-2 win and the biggest the victory in his career.
Javid Hamzatau of Belarus and German Denis Maksymilian Kudla each bagged a bronze.
Lopez, the two-time defending Olympic champion, defeated Turkey's Riza Kayaalp 6-0 for the heavyweight gold.
London Olympics bronze medalist Kayaalp had twice bested Lopez, beating the Cuban for the world title in 2011 and 2015. But Lopez showed stunning form in these Olympics and didn't allow a point on his way to the top of the podium.
Sabah Shariati of Azerbaijan and Russian Sergey Semenov won the bronzes.
