Forces of the Egyptian army on Friday killed at least 40 terrorists and destroyed six of their vehicles when the militants targeted a security checkpoint in Rafah, said the military spokesman.
In a released statement, he added that the law enforcement forces in North Sinai foiled the attack by terrorists on a checkpoint in southern Rafah leaving 40 terrorists dead and six vehicles destroyed.
Meanwhile, up to 26 army servicemen were killed and injured in a booby-trapped car attack.
The area is being combed in search of the perpetrators, he added.
