Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced 26 people to death for creating a "terror group" with the aim of attacking several vital state facilities.The court argued that the suspects are involved in manufacturing missiles and explosives for launching attacks against state facilities and ships using the Suez Canal, Egypt's official news agency, MENA, reported.The case had been referred to the mufti, Egypt's top Islamic official, who has to validate the sentence. The suspects, the court said, were allegedly involved in such "terror acts" from 2004 to 2009.
