A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck off near the Solomon Islands Tuesday, but didn't trigger tsunami warnings.
The US Geological Survey said it is the second earthquake that strike off the northern islands of Australia within two weeks. USGS added today's earthquake was centered about 120 kilometers northwest of Kirakira with 44 kilometers depth, however it didn't trigger tsunami warnings.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake previously struck near the Solomon islands triggering tsunami warnings across the South Pacific, leading hundreds of villagers to move to higher areas.
