An Egyptian seismological institute registered an earthquake of 4.1 on the Richter scale on Saturday near a popular Sinai resort city. Head of the National Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research Hatem Aouda said the epicenter was 25 kilometers southwest of Sharm el-Sheikh in the Egyptian Sinai. The Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea are seismically active areas, Aouda said. The earthquake occurred at 9 a.m.; there were no reports of injury or damage.
