Algerian interior ministry

An emergency committee was set up at the Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities, immediately after the strong earthquake which hit Algiers province Friday morning, said the department in a communiqué.
The committee is chaired by State Minister, Interior and Local Authorities Minister Tayeb Belaiz, said the source, underlining that “no casualties or damage have been reported so far.”
The 5.6-magnitude quake which hit Friday morning Algiers province sparked panic among the inhabitants, many of whom went out into the streets for fear of after-shocks.
