Drum seismograph records the shaking of the ground

A strong earthquake occurred at the northern Molucca Sea early this morning, located about 123km southeast of Bitung, Indonesia and 926km southeast of Semporna of Malaysia's Sabah.
The earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale occurred at 6.12am with the epicentre at latitude 1.48 degrees north and longitude 126.3 degrees east, the Malaysian Meteorological Deparment said in a statement.
However, there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia, said the official Bernama News Agency.
