Taipei - XINHUA
Taiwan's meteorological authority Sunday morning lifted warnings for super typhoon Soudelor after it battered the island, killing five people Saturday.
Although Soudelor has been veering north away from the island, residents in central and southern Taiwan might see increasing rainfall, the meteorological department warned.
The typhoon's outer rim could bring rainstorms to areas in Kaohsiung and Tainan, as well as mountainous regions in eastern Taiwan.
According to Taiwan's emergency operation center, five people were killed, four were missing and more than 100 were injured after Soudelor made landfall in eastern Taiwan's Hualien County early Saturday.
The island's high-speed rail lines and regular train networks will resume service on Sunday, except for the Alishan Forest railway.
