National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Ryan said a tornado struck southwest of Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday.
Authorities reported damage to homes, downed power lines, and uprooted trees, and the Hendricks County Emergency Management Agency reported that three homes sustained extensive damage.
The storm then headed into Indianapolis and toward its northern suburbs.
