Second-hand bookstore and cafe, Bikya, has been operating for one year, offering its customers more than just books and coffee. Bikya has opened their doors to contemporary emerging musicians and comedians, as well as hosting an event for Autostrade Comic book launched mid-2011. The space only allows for small gatherings creating an intimate atmosphere between artist and the audience. Following the success of the Nasr city cafe Bikya\'s next project is to open a second branch in Maadi shortly, which will host events as well. For three days starting Thursday, 1 March, Bikya is running an exciting cultural schedule of emerging and established artists to celebrate its first year in operation. Thursday, 1 March Thursday is dedicated to music. Singer Malak Makar will open proceedings with Gamroor on guitar and Shahir on percussion, acoustic band Like Jelly will follow. The night will also feature Rash Radio and Sary Hany on guitar. Musician Hany Mostafa, with Mostafa Kerdani on percussion and Adam Awad on guitar, will also play. Friday, 2 March The comedy night will feature stand up by Ramy Borei, Noha Kato and Mo Love. The hilarious High on Body Fat, Ze Khodz, and Zizo Kambutar will explore musical comedy. Revolutionary musicians Abou and Mariam are set to perform as well. Saturday, 3 March Ahmed Safi El Din, known more commonly as Safi, will be performing a solo set. Street and concert musician Shady Ahmed will play alongside Tarek Abdel Kawi on guitar followed by a performance by Aya Mostafa. The night and festival will end with contemporary Egyptian band Salalem. All performances start at 6.30pm.
