Vilnius - XINHUA
Information and entertainment events related to the European Union (EU) and the European Parliament are being held in Vilnius from Friday to Sunday to celebrate the Europe day. The events provide a glimpse into the EU's development, Lithuania's development as an EU member, performance by Lithuania's state brass band, as well as a restaurant fair which boasts food from ten European countries. Besides bringing economic benefits, joining EU meant Lithuanian people can move freely within the bloc to meet different people, to share different ideas, and to get good experience from other countries, Arturas Zuokas, mayor of Vilnius, told Xinhua. Lithuania has been an EU member for ten years since May 1, 2004, when ten European countries joined the union simultaneously.
