"The excellent reputation that the UAE has gained in the fields of literature, intellect and culture has made it home to literary and cultural creativity, thereby recalling and reviving the glittering days of the historic Arabian Souks of Okaz and Mirbid", commented Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Director of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). "Sharjah has become home to many landmark cultural institutions and centres that enjoy major support from HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and will continue to press ahead with this path to achieve further successes and gains", Al Ameri said. The statement was made to coincide with SIBF Participation in the 43rd edition of the London International Book Fair (LBF 2013) - one of the world's most illustrious and popular book fairs, which will take place at the historic Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, England, from the 15th to 17th of April. The biggest authors, cultural icons, academics and industry leaders, as well as people interested in the authorship and publishing sector descend on London every year to take part in this cultural extravaganza. The Sharjah International Book Fair will be represented by a high-profile delegation headed by SIBF Director Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, and including Salim Omar Salim, Head of Sales '&' Marketing at SIBF, and Mohan Kumar, External Affairs Executive at SIBF. With the main aim of promoting the 32nd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which will take place from 6-16 November 2013, Al Ameri will conduct a number of meetings with various cultural bodies and institutions, including children's book distributors and publishers, as well as PR companies representing publishing houses. The meetings are expected to result in a number of agreements and future cooperative deals. During the meetings, Al Ameri will invite these bodies to participate in the upcoming edition of Sharjah International Book Fair and will discuss what the Sharjah exhibition has to offer.
