Fisker Atlantic hybrid sedan

Fisker Atlantic hybrid sedan Berlin - Arabstoday Fisker Automotive told the world they were working on another vehicle besides the Karma several year ago. But it’s only now that that vehicle has come to fruition. Developed under the name ‘Project Nina‘, the new car is actually called the Fisker Atlantic. And as predicted the car is a sedan with extremely well hidden rear doors giving the car a coupe-like profile. In the styling department, Fisker have given the Atlantic a body which clearly matches the Karma and the Surf. However it doesn’t seem to be quite as attractive as either. The Fisker Atlantic will come in at a much more affordable price than the $100,000+ Karma – although it’ll still be a long way from being a budget motor. Production is set for 2013, and Fisker will be making use of a former GM facility in Delaware to manufacture the car.The Fisker Atlantic Hybrid Sedan is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder from BMW, and an electric motor supplied by lithium ion batteries. Like the Karma the Atlantic is a plug-in series hybrid, which means it can be switched between electric or internal combustion power. This can be done either manually or automatically. As standard the Fisker Atlantic will come in a rear-wheel-drive configuration. However Fisker say an all-wheel-drive version will be available as an option. The company said of their new offering: “Revealed as a design prototype the Fisker Atlantic is a luxury four-door sporting sedan with a luxurious and dynamic interior. It is aimed at young families who want to drive an impactful, high-end vehicle while making a positive statement about responsibilities – both in terms of their commitment to sustainability and the practicalities of everyday life.”While Henrik Fisker, the company’s founder and namesake added: “We are exceptionally proud of the Atlantic design prototype, and believe we have created another groundbreaking car that looks and will drive like nothing else on the road in this class”.
