Jaguar E-Type Concept

Jaguar E-Type Concept Danube - Arabstoday Jaguar really needs to build another E-Type. Even if it’s only purpose is to help slow the steady flow of concept cars which are all designed to be “modern interpretations of the E-Type”. In just the past few months we’ve had the Eagle E-Type Speedster, and the Classic Factory Lyonheart K. Now the young Hungarian designer Laszlo Varga thinks he  has the answer in the form of his appropriately if unimaginatively named Jaguar E-Type concept.Varga’s E-Type concept is classically proportioned, and just like the original it has a long low hood and a cockpit pushed well towards the rear of the vehicle. But while it may have the soft flowing lines of the Jag, from some angles – particularly in profile and from the rear – it looks a lot more like the old Datsun 240Z. And if we’re doing Datsun concepts then this wins hands down.Up front the E-Type concept is fitted with a small-by-today’s-standards oval grille, and the bodywork is noticeably devoid of any superfluous grilles, air intakes or lights, making it incredibly clean and uncluttered.Varga says of his concept, and bear in mind English isn’t his first language; “… a modern E-type has to be reborn with the harmonious combination of the modern strong edges and the smooth feminine lines. The simple, elegant, pure geometric design makes the form honest yet dynamic.”Overall, the E-type is a hard act to follow, not least because everyone has their own opinion on how it could or should be redesigned. Personally I think Varga’s concept is reasonably successful, but there’s a few areas which could do with a bit of a re-think.
