A total of 35 short films produced in Alexandria will be shown throughout the weeklong screenings. The festival also brings short films and documentaries from Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Tunisia, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Albania, Monte Negro, Malta, France and Algeria.
Chaplin's memorable The Great Dictator (1940) will be screened in addition to his first film, Making a Living, marking 100 years since its release.
Meanwhile, Alamir Abaza, head of the festival, announced in a press conference on Tuesday that this year's edition is in honour of actor Nour El-Sharif.
Achievement awards will also go to: actress Nadia El-Gendy, director Daoud Abdel-Sayed, pop singer Mohamed Mounir, Tunisian director Al-Tayeb Al-Maheeshy,
Algerian culture minister and film director Nadia Sharaba and Syria's Mohamed Malss.
