Bahrain marks World Civil Defence Day

On behalf of Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan attended a ceremony of the General Directorate of Civil Defence to mark the World Civil Defence Day .

The Chief asserted that the civil defence and its personnel are among the top modernization strategy of the Interior Minister, stressing its importance in facing current and future challenges.
He highlighted the directives of Interior Minister to draft new strategy project for the coming phase and develop the civil defence.
He highlighted that the importance and complications of the mission of the department increases in day by day for the rapid growth in the Kingdom in various infrastructures and urbanization as well as investment projects. This requires high readiness and professionalism to protect the development process.
He said the department has a key role in confronting rioting, vandalism and terrorism hand in hand with other security departments of the Interior Ministry, in addition to the backing role provided to the National Disaster Management Committee. 
The Chief praised the efficiency of civil defence personnel in tackling climate changes and backing national efforts in dealing with nature-related issues. He said that in the World Civil Defence Day, the world remembers the sacrifices of civil defence personnel and their role in the protection of lives and property, in addition to ensuing general safety for the nation and the public.
General Director of Civil Defence hailed the support of HE Interior Minister and follow up of the Chief, highlighting that the support has helped the department to meet the required developments, in terms of equipments and human resources. He said that the department has been dedicated to enhance performance through various activities, including workshops.
The ceremony included honouring a number of civil defence officers and other ranks for their extinguished services related to rescuing, firefighting and training . A number of partners, including industrial companies were honoured for their supportive work.
