The Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre is launching a series of events and activities for the Eid Al Adha holidays, which will go on for three days until Monday, 6thOctober 2014 at fifteen centres across the U.A.E.
The festivities begin on the first day of Eid Al Adha, with celebrations at different shopping centres throughout the seven emirates, including Dubai Mall (the festivities will extend in Dubai Mall exclusively until 11thOctober), Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre, Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah City Centre, Fujairah City Centre, Umm Al Qaiwain Mall and Bawadi Mall in Al Ain. There will also be events and activities at the Al Fahadi Council, Jumeirah Council and Al Rasheediya Council in Dubai.
A visit to these locations will provide a unique opportunity for people in the country to experience the U.A.E.'s different traditional practices, especially the ones that are widely popular during the auspicious occasion of Eid, such as coffee, desserts, Henna, traditional Emirati dishes and other customary Emirati festivities. Also, Eidiya will be distributed to all the children, and there will be traditional bands such as Liwa, Eiyala and Al Harbiya performing at the various venues. These events and activities will take place from 5pm to 9pm. In addition there will be Eidiya distribution, coffee, desserts and traditional bands at the home for the elderly from 11am to 2pm tomorrow, the second day of Eid Al Adha.
On this occasion, Ibrahim Abdul Rahim, Head of Events at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, stated, "Through the Eid Al Adha events and activities, the Centre seeks to offer residents and visitors both young and old with an enjoyable means to learn first-hand about the different Emirati traditions associated with Eid, so that they may acquire a better understanding of the U.A.E.'s rich heritage and legacy that have been passed on from generation to generation." The shopping malls and councils in the country are particularly busy during the Eid Al Adha holidays, thereby offering a wonderful opportunity to reach out to residents and visitors to enhance cultural understanding and generate awareness of the U.A.E.'s culture and customs.
The Eid Al Adha activities and events are all part of the mission of the Centre to preserve the culture and heritage of the U.A.E. people, while maintaining their roots and disseminating awareness of the country's rich legacy.
