The annually-held 10th Theatre Days for Youth local festival came to a close in a ceremony, attended by the Information Minister and Minister of Youth, at Dasma Theatre on Wednesday.
In addition to the Minister, Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the event was attended by the Chairman and Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The event's chief organizer Abdullah Abdulrasool began by congratulating the young participants on their "ideas, presentation and works" which he said were characterized by "sincerity and total commitment to theatrical principle." "Youth are the ones who carry the true meaning of the role of the theatre in building the society, and maintain the legacy of pioneers of the movement and its disciplines," he said.
The organizing committee was thanked for its role, along with Minister Sheikh Salman, for his sponsorship, and Sheikh Mansour, for support of the event.
For his part, head of the judges committee renowned local actor Mohammad Al-Mansour remarked that the theatre represents "a message of enlightenment for the public." "Theatre performers are creative and mature," he said, adding that "the complete components of a play represent true integration through the production of a 'complete play' that raises everyone's expectations." Text and dialogue are two of the main pillars of the credibility of an artist, as they represent the integrity and inner emotions of the artist, he said, and it is these deep meanings that express the inner feelings and emotions of a human being.
On this, he urged youngsters to maintain this honesty in their works - which he defined as "theatrical principles." At the conclusion of the event, awards were handed out by Sheikh Ahmad to the winning troupes.
