Luxor African Film Festival

Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) announced Morocco will be invited as guest of honor of the sixth edition due next March 2017 given its high qualitative and quantitative film production that generally supports African cinema. 

In a press conference held at the Egyptian pavilion in the Riviera of Cannes Festival, Head of Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) Sayed Fouad announced added that Mauritanian filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako will be given a tribute for his great outstanding works that globally lifted the name of African cinema

Also, LAFF will officially invite African-American filmmaker Spike Lee to be the guest of honor of the sixth edition for his concerns of African and humanitarian issues.

Filmmaker Azza Elhusseiny, LAFF director, also announced that Egyptian actress Nelly Karim will be given a tribute for her distinctive work that reflects important issues, most recently in the Egyptian film CLASH. Also, the festival will honor the great Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah whose films were internationally acclaimed. 

Attiea Dardeer, head of LAFF viewing committee, also announced the continuation of the collaboration with Cannes Film Festival by showing its Short Film Competition as well as the showing of selected films from Short Shorts Festival of Japan.
