Young poets were briefed on tips to effectively use social media to promote their work to a wider audience regionally and internationally during a workshop held at the Moda Mall. It was held by the Social Media Club Bahrain as part of the Summer Poetry Festival 2013 that was inaugurated yesterday. It is held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. The prestigious festival is organised by the Folk Poetry Society in partnership with Moda Mall and is scheduled to run until September 12th. \" We wanted to educate and create awareness among young poets, who were mainly university students on using social media tools to promote their work,\" said Founder and president of the Social Media Club Bahrain Ali Sabkar. He said close to 50 young poets attended the workshop yesterday who attended several lectures conducted by social media experts. \" Most of these youth have social media accounts and we spoke about branding their work, etiquettes and other useful tips that will help them in their work.\" The aim of this festival is to bring together talented poets from around the Kingdom, both young and old, to enjoy the workshops, lectures, poetry evenings and seminars led by prominent local and regional poets, including famous Bahraini poets like Ali Al Shargawi and Abdulrahman Rafea. \"Hosting this prestigious Summer Poetry Festival is a testament of MODA Mall’s strong support to encourage talented young Bahrainis to uphold the Kingdom’s heritage and culture in poetry,\" said Cushman & Wakefield (Bahrain) WLL managing director and Bahrain World Trade Center and MODA Mall General Manager Kevin Kurpierz. “We, at MODA Mall, host social and cultural events which provide an excellent platform for leading artists to showcase their talents and promote Bahrain’s art and culture.”
