Algerian housing units

Some 170.000 housing units are ready to be distributed before the end of this year, including 90.000 completed at 100 %, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced.
Tebboune, who was guest of a show on a private channel, announced the government’s decision to eradicate the shanty towns in 1541 commune in first semester of 2016, as part of the sector’s strategy for the five year term 2015-2019, said the ministry in a communiqué.
A USD 64 billion budget was devoted by Algeria to the eradication of the housing crisis, Tebboune said.
He announced the holding of a government meeting during the next few days to examine the restructuration of big cities and the eradication of precarious housing, adding that this operation includes the provinces of Skikda, Annaba, Constantine, Algiers and Oran.
The next five year term plan of the housing sector should be launched in January 2015, said the minister who underlined that his services took all the measures, including the reinforcement of local implementation means to definitely eradicate this crisis.
