Two consortia in agri-food industries have been created to reinforce the production capacity of Algerian companies, hoist them to the international standard so to boost food product export, said Tuesday in Algiers the representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gilles Galtieri.
The programme on the creation and the development of consortia for food products export (IAA) was launched in February 2012 by the ministry of Industry and Mining in collaboration with UNIDO and the French embassy in Algeria as financial partner, Gilles Galtieri said on the sidelines of conference on the assessment of its activities.
This project is "promising" and "concrete" results have been noticed with the creation "legally and officially" of two consortia in the industries of animal proteins and cereals, he stressed.
Created early 2013, the consortium AAC (Algerian agro cereals) includes 12 companies activating notably in the production of pasta and flour.
Eight companies specializing in the processing of meat, fish and dairy products for the inter-professional consortium of animal proteins (GIPA), created in 2013.
Further companies are showing their interest in being part of these consortia, Galtieri said, who asserted that the number of companies will double "soon."
The budget allocated to this project is currently at €300,000 with the possibility of raise to €400,000, he indicated while noting that the expertise provided by UNIDO concerns the technical assistance and the organization of training sessions to the benefit of Algerian economic operators.
