Algerian housing units

Some 230,000 housing units of all formulas are ready to be distributed by the end of this year, announced Sunday the ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and the City in a communiqué.
According to the same source, out of these 230,000 units, “170,000 are currently completed at 100 %, the progress of 60,000 of them reached 60%.”
The ministry also said the quota of the participative housing units exceeds 18,000 units including 9803 delivered during the first half of 2014, stating that the rest of this programme will be completed by the end of this year.
In a recent statement, the Minister of Housing, Abdelmajid Tebboune, said that a USD 64 billion budget is devoted by the State for the eradication of the housing crisis.
According to him, the housing deficit, estimated at 720,000 units, will be curbed during the next five-year term.
Tebboune also announced the holding of a government meeting during the next few days to examine the restructuration of big cities and the eradication of precarious housing, adding that this operation includes the provinces of Skikda, Annaba, Constantine, Algiers and Oran.
The next five year term plan of the housing sector should be launched in January 2015, said the minister who underlined that his services took all the measures, including the reinforcement of local implementation means to definitely eradicate this crisis.
