Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim said on Wednesday that Kabad water treatment plant, costing KD 57 million, is one of major projects in the country.
Following his visit to the project, Al-Ibrahim said in a statement that the project comes in the framework of major schemes that the government seeks to achieve.
The project consists of a pumping plant and a treatment plant with a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters that would be raised to 270,000 cubic meters, the statement added.
The plant will serve Al-Jahraa Governorate, including the cities of Saad Al-Abdullah, Jaber Al-Ahmad, Al-Sulaibikhat, Al-Andalus, Ghernata and Al-Qurain, noted the statement.
The plant treats sewage water to use it in irrigation purposes, it added.
In a related development, the minister affirmed that the new airport project is underway, saying major schemes need enough time to take the notes of contractors into considerations.
Concerning project of new housing cities, he pointed out that there is co-ordination among concerned parties in the regard of electricity and sewage.
He stressed that the project has no problem, saying some projects are delayed due to routine measures and some obstacles.
