Yaccob Al-Awadhi, CEO of NGN Intl, said that "Bahrain succeeded in attracting investments to select Bahrain as the Headquarters of their workloads, creating high-quality opportunities of global investments. It is expected to help attract new funds to Bahrain such as Google, etc.,"

He was speaking on the sidelines of the second Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit.

"AWS announced during the Summit that Bahrain had been selected as the location of three Availability zones also known as data centers by 2019,"he added.

"I think this is a great opportunity not only for ICT companies, but also for all international companies such as banks and transport companies that are already migrated their workloads into cloud computing".  

He praised the vital role played by EDB in attracting large-scales investments to the kingdom which contributes towards developing diverse economic fields.

Al Awadhi explained that Bahrain’s ICT market is changing as the migration to the cloud computing accelerates, calling on the Bahraini ICT companies to take the opportunities of cloud-driven technology, including offering Cybersecurity services and others.

"Adopting Cloud-First Policy in Bahrain will foster development of cloud-based technologies like Internet of the things, predictive diagnostics, industry 4.0, video intelligence and other modern technologies. It will also increase offers of online services with a higher quality thanks to increased fault tolerance," he said.

 Al Awadhi pointed out that recent initiatives like the data protection law and the new bankruptcy law were building blocks that would help the country to create entrepreneurship, along with other initiatives to develop the ICT infrastructure, announcing the launch of five data solutions so far and $100m Fund of Funds.
