Bahraini Minister of Works Essam Khalaf said on Monday that Bahrain plans to spend about one billion Bahraini dinars (USD 2.5 billion) on infrastructure projects over the next 10 years. Khalaf said in a speech during the opening of the 14th Conference of the Projects Management Institute - Bay Branch here tonight that projects aimed at developing the sanitation networks, building schools, health centers, sports and social development projects. He explained that a number of these projects will be funded under the USD 10 billion GCC support program, adding that these projects are consistent with the vision of the Kingdom, which aims to raise its position regionally and internationally and improve the standard of living for its citizens. He said the Kingdom seeks to implement numerous projects related to infrastructure development which will help it achieve better returns on investment in the shortest period of time and in line with its economic vision for the year 2030.
