A two-year labour market national plan has today been approved. The ministerial committee for services and infrastructure today endorsed the (2014-2015) blueprint which will be submitted to the Cabinet for final approval. Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa chaired the session at Gudaibiya Palace. Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that the two-year scheme would likely be implemented once endorsed by the Cabinet. The four-pronged plan will focus on sustainable and productive employment, training and corporate development, improvement of work conditions and labour relations and updating labour market data and indicators. The Labour Ministry, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Labour Fund (Tamkeen), the Economic Development Board (EDB) the Education Ministry, the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), the Industry and Commerce Ministry and the General Directorate for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs joined efforts to draw-up the two-year strategy. Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa directed the Works Ministry to be in charge of carrying Government-funded civil construction projects – except the ones concerning the sectors of housing, electricity and water. Works Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf updated the session on the execution of projects in favor of ministries and government departments. The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Shura and Parliament Affairs Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Fadhel, Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, Works Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Transport Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al-Hamer, Health Minister Sadiq bin Abdulkarim Al-Shehabi and other senior officials.
