Giza - MENA
The Armed Forces provided 36 buses, each of a capacity of 46 passengers, to facilitate the transportation of citizens in Giza governorate after microbus and bus drivers have raised the fare more than the amount stipulated by the government.
Giza Governor Ali Abdul Rahman said on Monday during his tour of Giza Square that the army's buses have begun operating since the morning.
The new buses will work on nine different routes in Giza, the governor further said.
Bus, microbus and taxi drivers increased their fares after a recent presidential decree that cuts subsidies on fuel.
Abdul Rahman added that any attempts to raise the fare will be punishable by the law.
