Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has announced that it will provide emergency relief assistance to those affected by floods that have swept through a number of provinces in Sudan.
Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Alfalahi, Secretary-General of ERC, said that the humanitarian initiative of the authority comes in implementation of the directives of the supreme leadership of the authority to help families whose homes have been affected along with facilities in Sudanese provinces.
Dr. Alfalahi explained that the ERC has allocated Dh 736,000 to help those affected by heavy rains that swept through the region and from floods of the Nile River, which effected different regions of Sudan, flooding residential areas and causing the destruction of more than 7,250 houses, damaging 5,675 others, in addition to nine schools which were destroyed by the floods.
He pointed out that more than 13,000 Sudanese families, whose homes were destroyed, will benefit from the ERC aid so that they can return to their homes and engage in normal life.
