The GCC Monetary Council today denied setting a date to launch the unified currency of the Arabian Gulf countries. In a statement today, the Riyadh-based board dismissed reports published in newspapers and posted on social media websites as untrue and based on inaccurate information and unreliable sources. The board said that it is the only authority mandated to undertake statutory regulations conducive to the establishment of the GCC central bank and lay the foundations for the monetary union.
