Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary-General Ali Shamkhani said here Tuesday that Tehran would provide military assistance to Lebanese Army in order to help it in its fight against terrorism.
Speaking to reporters following a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Shamkhani said this donation would be presented during an official visit by Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Mokbel to Iran.
He said his country's aid to the Lebanese military would be used in the fight against terrorist groups in Lebanon's border areas.
Meanwhile, the visiting Iranian official underlined the need to hold dialogue among the Lebanese factions as the only way to end this Arab country's problems.
The Lebanese army has fought militants in several border areas in northeastern Lebanon, leaving scores of people dead.
