The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, rose by 6.1 % by the end of September 2013, compared with the same period of 2012, according to figures released by the Department of Statistics (DoS) on Thursday. The report attributed the rise in inflation to higher prices of transport services, fuel, meat and poultry products, vegetables and increased rent. The prices of some products such as tobacco, cigarettes and cereals, however, went down. \"At the monthly level, the CPI rose by 0.7 % last September, compared to August,\" the report added.
