Manama - BNA
Upon directives from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the first Bahraini aid consignment was distributed in the Gaza Strip, which makes Bahrain among the first countries to deliver relief aid to Gaza during the brutal Israeli offensive there.
The 40-ton shipment, prepared under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser, in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society (RCS), includes a quantity of medication, medical equipment and relief aid to meet the urgent needs of the distressed Palestinians in war-ravaged Gaza.
RCO Secretary-General and Head of the National Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Gaza Dr. Mustapha Al-Sayyed said that the medicines and medical equipment were distributed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to Gaza hospitals in coordination with the World Health Organisation (WHO).
A part of the shipment was allocated to Khan Yunis-based Bahrain Hospital, which is playing a crucial role in treating the Palestinians in Gaza.
He added that preparations are in full swing to dispatch the second relief aid consignment to Gaza in the coming days, noting that the National Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Gaza will spare no effort to support the brotherly Palestinians there.
