FREETOWN: The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, with the supervision of the U.A.E. Embassy in Senegal, has implemented the distribution of food baskets to underprivileged families in Sierra Leone as part of a comprehensive programme currently being implemented in many countries around the world.
An official source from the Khalifa Foundation said that through this programme it has distributed more than 700 food baskets to families and orphanages in the capital, Freetown, and other cities.
The distribution was organised in the presence of a representative of the U.A.E. Embassy in Dakar, the Chairman and representatives of the Union of Muslims in Sierra Leone, representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs and a number of Imam and officials.
The beneficiaries and officials who attended thanked the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the U.A.E. people and the Khalifa Foundation for their kind gesture which re-affirms the country's keenness on alleviating their suffering. http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395267696371.html
Spanish riders head up Mansour bin Zayed European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders
VERONA, 13th July, 2014 (WAM) -- Spanish riders took the reins in the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival supported Italia Endurance Festival, which kicked off with the European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders, which was held yesterday in Verona, Italy.
Spain's Gil Berenguer Carrera, riding a 12-year-old mare, Nina bin Menfis, topped the 120km ride with a time of 5 hours 49 minutes and 40 seconds to win the individual gold. Ms. Carrera also led the Spanish team to a gold medal in the team championship.
Nina Lissarrague from France came second, while Spain's Paula Muntala Sanchez took the individual bronze.
Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Chairman of Ladies Racing at the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities, IFAHR, said, "The Sheikh Mansoor Festival's involvement with endurance rides has been a success and the European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders 2014 is another chapter added to the Festival's initiatives.
"There is more exciting action awaiting in this festival. The first ever ladies-only event in the world, the H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Endurance Cup, classified as a CEI Two Star ride, will be held next weekend.
"Other events, including the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup Open CEI Two Star, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup (Young and Junior riders), CEI Two star, and the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup Open One Star ride, will also be staged as part of the Italia Endurance Festival," Ms. Sawaya added.
